soooooooooooo um no ones posting lolz. sorry about that guys i'll try to be here a little more especially now that i know how little stuff is being put up here haha. :) anywho..............things are going great!!!!!!!!! all of you are doing absolutely amazing and working hard as we near yet another testing week. sifu harley is going to be out of town till tuesday.he has a very busy schedule over the next month traveling all over and being amazingly important and awesome like he always is lolz :) so we'll try not to burn the place down between now and then (JK SIFU!!!!!)honestly haha it'll be great and we'll all miss him horribly. lets see what else is new...............
oh! OCTOBER 17th peoples!!!!! dont forget!!!!!!! from 12-3pm we are gonna be at kiwanas park celebrating everything about martial arts......from sifu harley's impressive achievement of training for 25years to our school being open 10years.!!!!! (thats older than most of you little warriors haha)! it'll be lots of fun so i hope to see you all there lolz. :) food,games, all of you awesome guys and of course just all of us together having a total blast (unlike every other boring person who doesn't want to hang out with us).so hope to see you all and well we will all be here on the mat...

EXCELLENT JOB TODAY GUYS!!

I am very proud of each one of you. Iknow it's sometime hard to stay focused during the summer, but you guys all did a great job.

Remember, passing today's test wasn't just cause you tried hard today, it' was because you worked hard all month!

Everyone did a great job, let's see if we can bump it up to even better next month! Don't forget, bring your friends and family to testing!

hey everybody!!!! sorry its been so long since i was here. so summer is at its closing and classes are still going great.(of course they are haha i mean seriously how could they not when we have the greatest, most talented students in the world.?) :) you guys are all doing amazing...!!! coming back,working hard and testing in between all the summer trips you guys have been taking.i hope everyone is ready for school to begin...its gonna be a great year! i want all of you to remember as we start this new year in school......that if you can work hard,learn your test material and be dedicated in martial arts you can do the same in school.you may be struggling with a subject or not like one of your teachers but just remember how hard push-ups were when you first started.now they are easy...because you worked at it and never quit.your schooling is the same.hard things become easier with time and practice. keep working hard guys..in all parts of your life! =]

NEW JR. BLACK BELTS!!!

Congratulations to Jordan Pirtle, Hope Pirtle, Brandon Draper and Ethan Nelson!!!
The test consists of a physical fitness test: 1.5 mile untimed run, 50 push ups and 50 leg lifts. This is done on the first day.

The second day begins with a 60 word written terminology test, translating chinese terms into english.

From there they have to perform all the Forms, all the counter drills, all the trapping techniques, pass a oral examination of history of the art, perform all the straight blast drills, demonstrate locking techniques and basic counters, then finish by sparring several rounds with the Instructors.

This was a great group and they were very well prepared! We are all proud of their achievement and of their growth. Now, welcome to the big league, time to head to the Master's Class for even more exciting and rewarding training! See you there!

hey peoples!!!! so another test is done and all of you did.......hmmm mediocre,okay,getting better...NO! you guys all did awesome! keep up the great hard work :) so as i mentioned last time summer camp is starting soon...WOOT for summer! lolz and well its summer haha.. be excited!!! if you guys are going somewhere cool tell us all about it,send postcards,let us see pics haha and jus evrything. hope to see you all in classes still (no slacking guys! video games are fun but i might cry if all of you decide you like them more then us lol....JK!)........and so ya! theres a ninja night coming up (june 19th)....dress up as the dread pirate roberts (lol) or a hula dancer and be ready for lots of fun. but ya not too much going on....its summer and well enjoy guys and don't drive your parents too crazy lol...

(hee hee the title being written all funky is specifically for mo's benifit lolz sorry guys couldn't help it)...... ANYWHO, so for all of you youngsters school is ending in like what??? three weeks lol? (haha its kinda funny but i can almost see your parents groaning as all you kids jump for joy) so what are you guys gonna be doing this summer??????? all that free time.......are you guys going to all become lazy couch potatoes or ya gonna be here, hanging with us, at our ultra fun filled,exciting,very busy(o wait thats just us instructors lol) ----and well you get the picture--- summer camp?! its looking like this years summer is gonna be a blast with all the putt-putt trips,bowling, movies, swimming, reading program and trips to the library.......and who knows maybe a few surprises as well;) so ya for those of you already signed up and participating.....awesomeness!!!! i'll see you all there :) and as for my lil future couch potatoes well maybe we'll just have to do more push-ups in class lol so you guys don't get to behind our awesome summer campers lol jk! hope you guys won't slack off over the summer and well keep training and always do your best....... :)

Hey peoples!!!!!! I'm so sorry its been awhile since i got on and well ya haha but i'm here now! we start our third and final day of testing today...woot! (lolz) and everyone is doing amazing!!!!!!!!! we are all so proud of all of you....you guys come to class regularly,work hard, have fun, make friends and do amazing! (hey, kidz....you should definitly all thank your parents for bringing you and such.......they put a lot of work into you being able to get your next stripe or belt,same as you). so kidsfest is saturday....whos going?? (lol almost like i can see you raise your hand or something haha)....well we hope to see you guys there cause we'll be there,having a booth and doing demos just like we have for the last um idk how many years haha :) so come by and say hi! As for those of you not planning on making it well have a great weekend and fine don't come see me *pouty face* (lol jk you guys have an awesome time doing whatever you do haha) um so ya kinda running out of things to say haha so miss alana logging off...........later guys!!

2009 Easter Egg Hunt!!!

Hello Everyone!
This year's Easter Egg Hunt was a ton of fun. We had about 1000 eggs!!
Wow, that's a ton of eggs.

We all had a blast and it was great to hang out with all of you guys, hunt easter eggs and play games.

Some people had more fun than others I guess, lol. Here Lilly is showing us her Easter face?!?

Woo Hoo!! I got eggs! I wonder if she found any Golden Eggs with money or tickets in it?

What an awesome time everyone had. I want to say special thanks to all the parents who made this whole thing possible. It's your extra time and attention that make our academy so awesome, you guys all rock! I would also like to say that although Easter is a fun and exciting holiday and it's always fun to hunt Easter Eggs, eat candy and stuff, let's not forget the real reason we celebrate Easter and remember to give thanks and praise where it truly belongs.

I hope everyone has a great Easter. If you made it out to the park for our annual Easter egg hunt, I hope you had a blast. It was really fun and I cant wait for it next year. Also I would like to congratulate our new black belts. They did a great job and I am very proud of them. It takes alot of hard work and years of training but they did it. For those of you that are getting close keep the hard work up and you will make it.

Ok sorry guys....haven't been able to get on in a while (but apparently neither have the guys.....haha slackers!) so I'm back and here to talk about our four newest black belts!!! Noah Bolneo, Madeline Naylor, Raul Santos and Jorge Delgado..........they all did amazing!!! And we are so proud of all of them! :) As for those black canidates soon to be testing if you weren't there you were missing out lol, they did amazing and you should definitly be seeing them for study tips to help you get ready. These four awesome students have done something unique that not many kids will ever be able to claim-----they got their black belts and we hope most if not all of you will be able to claim that one day..... work hard and always do your best..........

haha growing up at warriors way :)

haha!!! Looks like Sifu had fun with that last post lol (and thank goodness all the really embarrassing pics are burned lol) so for those of you that didn't know I have been doing martial arts here since the age of seven. I was not however automaticallyamazing and ready to test for my black belt (even though some of you think so lol which is really cute); I started as a white belt same as all of you, I came to class, made friends, worked hard, competed in tournaments, was nervous over tests, slowly worked my way up (just like you guys!) and now even though I'm sixteen I'm still here....working hard, hanging with my friends and teaching all of you. Warriors Way is a part of my family and life now and so are all of you guys (and I hope it stays that way). Always work hard, have fun, keep coming to classes and who knows, maybe one day Sifu will be posting your pictures saying look who grew up with us :)

Great Tournament

Wow, everybody did a great job on Saturday. I'm proud of the Dragons class, this was the first tournament that they competed against one another for places. The Beginner division showed that they are starting to get the concepts of stick fighting. The Advanced division put all their knowledge on show and it was impressive. For those of you who entered either the Little Dragons or Little Warriors Tournament on Staurday I'd like to say congrats...you guys all did AMAZING!!!!!!!!! I know losing can be hard but the purpose of these tournaments isn't only for you to win........its so you can learn, grow and test yourself against other students while having fun. Tournaments are fun as well as hard but you guys all did awesome; you did your best, showed great sportsmanship, and we hope you had lots of fun..........................as Sifu said you are all winners to us! Stick Fighting Tournament!!!

Hello Everyone,

First let me say to everyone who participated in today's stick tournament that you are all winners in my book! Everyone fought hard, showed great sportsmanship and kept the whole atmoshpere one of fun and excitment!

You all did an awesome job and I am very proud of each of you.

Remember, what's important, winning a game or being a good person and showing good sportsmanship? That's right, being a good person! You all showed that very well today.

Remember that with some hard work and practice in class maybe each of you can improve on what you did today!

omgosh!!!!!!!!!!! haha i know this has nothing really to do with martial arts and your childrens training but once again your kids have managed to say the cutest things eva lol! so monday little dragons class after mat chat one of our students came up to me, grabbed my hand and said ''miss alana? can i ask you something'' of course thats allowed (lol) and so then he asked me on a 'bate' (yes i know how to spell date lol but his pronounciation is way cute) he then continued to tell me how he'd just gotten a new kirby game and that he wanted me to come over and play with him, he then leaned over and whispered while blushing ''and miss alana...i'll make the popcorn for us...'' haha so anyways..............hes a cute little boy who will definitly be a heartbreaker once hes older ;) ..........and its been another training filled day so miss alana signing off...........

What does your kid think of your job?

We are always hearing amazing things in class. Today I asked a young man what his mother does for a living. His reply was "people call her and complain, so she gets angry and yells at them." LOL.

Although this might be a true statement, it's unlikely that is the whole truth. The real idea here is in realizing exactly how our children perceive what we do or are going through.

Another friend of mine who teaches elite military groups close combat for a living has a young son. When asked to tell the class what his father did for a living he replied "my dad teaches people to kill people with knives." WHAT!!! You can only imagine the phone call and follow up meeting with the teacher, lol.

Children have a very limited view of the world and when exposed to adult topics such as work, religion, relationships, etc. they are forced to put those topics into terms and concepts that they understand from their view of the world. They break it down in to simple concepts like "right or wrong", " like or hate" and "have or have not".

So next time you have a chance, ask your child what they think you do for a living. Ask them about what they think of things, topics outside the normal school/friends/homework talk. I think you might enjoy what they have to say.

Why Balls?

One of the key elements to grappling effectively is the ability to move your self around on the ground. It's harder than you may think to roll around and lift yourself with one knee and your head, or to roll from your back to your stomach without using your hands. These are basic skills kids need to have in order to be able to move around on the ground. Combine that with the need to also move another person and you can find grappling extremely exhausting and frustrating. You might see kids reach this level of fatigue and frustration and simply lie on the ground with the other on top of them. The child on the bottom stops trying because it seems futile.

The balls give them a chance to learn to move on the ground, to develop those core stabilizer muscles they need to have proper balance, quick explosive movements and be able to move not only themselves but others on top of them.

I think it's a very valuable tool, it's also one you might find useful for your child at home! Simply pick one up at Wal-mart and give 'em some room. who knows, it might make the difference in escaping a hold or simply giving up!

Funny Stuff #2

Hi guys. I'm back with some more funny stories from little dragons class.

So today we were doing some ball drills on the inflatable balls. I had all the kids sit down on them so i could talk without them bouncing around everywhere. While we were doing this there was one child who couldn't seem to stay on the ball. every time he tried to turn and look at me he would roll off of the ball and onto the ground. Now he wasn't playing around he just genuinely couldn't stay on top of the ball. When I asked him to just stand beside the ball until I was finished talking he said, "Mr. pete I think I need a square ball because this circle one keeps rolling away."

Once again the kids don't fail to amuse and entertain with their unique outlook on the everyday situation.

Its amazing, watching all of you after weeks of practice get up there and give it your best. I remember how scary it was when i was in the kids program but as long as you're working hard and practicing (which all of you have been doing) you'll always do your best and be prepared. First Post: Funny Stuff

Hi everyone Mr. Pete here. On one of Sifu's earlier posts he said that among other things you'll see on this blog keep an eye out for funny things we hear in class. The kids are constantly saying things that crack us up. Now we have a way to share them with you all. Just know that this is the first of many.

In little dragons class we have an exercise known as snake crawl. In this excercise you crawl from one side of the mat to the other using only your arms. Well in a recent Little Dragons class we had a dragon who just didn't want to keep up with everyone else. All the instructors were telling him "come on" "speed up" the dragon who thought it should be obvious said, "You know I could go a lot faster if snakes had legs." Although the thought makes perfect sense he still had to catch up. Nice try Little Dragon.

Hope you enjoyed this funny story. If I hear any more I'll keep you "posted"

Great Job On Belt Testing!

Yesterday was the monthly Belt Testing day and everyone did a great job! I am always really proud when I see students get up there and give it all they have.

This shows how hard they have been working all month and let's us see what it is that they need to work on within this block of information. We don't expect students to get up there and know every single thing on their test perfectly, sometimes they do. And when that happens we love to see it, it sets the bar for all the others. But those that miss something, it's ok. Now we know what we need to work on for the next belt.

Great job from everyone, we are really proud of you all.
